I am a linguist specialised on minority and endangered languages of Ethiopia. Documenting and describing languages on the basis of my own fieldwork data is my main activity. I am also interested in linguistic typology, language contact, language classification, sociolinguistics and anthropological linguistics, as well as in documentary video production.
My activity is strongly linked to the use of linguistic software for language analysis and the creation of lexical and textual databases. My present research contract financed by DoBeS-Volkswagenstiftung aims at the documentation of the endangered languages Bayso and Haro, spoken in and around the Abbaya Lake in Southern Ethiopia. Among many other things, I am also working on the dictionary “Italiano-Amarico Amarico-Italiano”.
